According to the EFCC, Olukoyede apologized for the discomfort the unfortunate incident caused hospital employees and the general public.

The Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has ordered that an apology be made to Professor Eyo Ekpe, the Deputy Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee of UUTH, and members of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, following the receipt and review of a preliminary report on the May 12, 2026 incident involving commission personnel and medical staff of the Uyo University Teaching Hospital, according to the statement.

According to the chairman of the EFCC, the commission is committed to collaborating with stakeholders to stop similar incidents from happening again. This collaborative effort aims to enhance accountability and transparency within the system. By fostering stronger relationships with community leaders and organizations, the EFCC hopes to build trust and ensure that the rights of citizens are protected. This proactive approach not only seeks to prevent future occurrences of corruption but also aims to empower citizens to actively participate in the fight against financial crimes. Through educational programs and outreach initiatives, the EFCC plans to raise awareness about the importance of integrity and the role of individuals in maintaining a just society.

The “unfortunate incident,” he continued, would not stop the commission from carrying out its mandate in any region of Nigeria.
The team remained focused on their objectives, prioritizing the needs of the communities they served. Despite the challenges, their commitment to fostering development and ensuring safety would not waver. As they moved forward, the team sought innovative solutions to address the pressing issues faced by the locals. Engaging with community leaders became essential in building trust and creating sustainable programs that would empower the residents for years to come.

Additionally, he urged the NMA and other professional associations to keep aiding the EFCC in its fight against corruption. This collaboration is vital for ensuring accountability and transparency within various sectors. By working together, they can create a stronger framework to combat unethical practices and promote integrity. Such efforts will not only enhance public trust but also foster a culture of ethical behavior across organizations. Ultimately, this united front can lead to significant progress in establishing a fair and just society.
