Ahead Of 2027 Elections, AAC Scheduled its Timetable For State and Presidential Primaries

In advance of the 2027 election cycle, the African Action Congress (AAC) has officially announced the dates of its state and presidential primaries.
The announcement came after party leaders approved the holding of internal party elections in each of the federation’s states at a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on April 28, 2026.
The party outlined the topic of the memo to members and stakeholders in the formal heading of the internal communication.

Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, the party’s national secretary, explained the rationale behind the schedule in a statement titled “Notice of State and Presidential Primaries,” citing resolutions passed at its NEC meeting that approved the holding of primaries across the country.
“Following the resolutions reached at the National Executive Committee meeting held on the 28th of April, 2026, the committee has approved the conduct of the party’s state primaries across all states of the federation.”
The party instructed all pertinent structures to get ready for the exercise in accordance with authorized guidelines, outlining the schedule for its state-level primaries. It said:
“The state primaries shall be held between the 21st and 23rd of May, 2026,” it stated.
The AAC confirmed the date of its presidential primary, which will select the party’s nominee for the general election, as part of the schedule.
“In addition, the party’s presidential primary is now officially scheduled to be held on the 26th of May, 2026,” it said.
Additionally, the memo urged all members, stakeholders, and candidates to pay attention to the dates and modify their plans appropriately.
It emphasized to party members at all levels that “All aspirants, stakeholders, and members are expected to take note of these dates and align accordingly with the timetable.”
“This serves as official notice to all concerned,” the notice concluded, formally notifying everyone involved within the party structure.
