However, the Inter Miami star cautioned that nations like Spain and France “are in better shape.”
Messi stated, “As of today, France is in great shape again,” during an interview with host Pollo Álvarez.
“They have a ton of elite players.”
Messi also selected Brazil and Spain as nations to keep an eye on during the World Cup.
Portugal is a “very competitive” team, he said, adding that established European powers like Germany and England are always a threat.
