Aston Villa To Face PSG In The UEFA Super Cup, August 12 2026

Following their respective European trophies this season, Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa will compete in the 2026 UEFA Super Cup.

UEFA announced on Saturday that the esteemed curtain-raiser will take place at Salzburg’s Red Bull Arena on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

Back-to-back Champions League winners PSG and Europa League winners Aston Villa will square off in this game.

In the Champions League final on Saturday, PSG defeated Arsenal 1-1 (4-3 on penalties) to secure their spot with a thrilling defense of the title.

The French powerhouses have won the competition in back-to-back seasons under manager Luis Enrique, solidifying their position as the dominant force in Europe.

On May 20, Aston Villa defeated Freiburg 3-0 in the Europa League final to win their first significant European title since 1982.

The Premier League team has become a continental contender thanks to manager Unai Emery, who is well-known for his European ancestry.

The Super Cup traditionally features the Champions League winners against the Europa League winners, providing an early-season showcase between two of Europe’s strongest teams.

According to UEFA: “Paris lifted the UEFA Super Cup in 2025, coming from 2-0 down to beat Tottenham on penalties, though they lost over two legs against Juventus in their first appearance in 1996.

“Aston Villa won their only previous UEFA Super Cup over two legs in 1982, seeing off Barcelona.”
