Marwa visits injured NDLEA officers in hospital, assures of justice, full support

Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd.), the chairman and chief executive officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), visited two brave officers of the agency who are presently undergoing treatment at the National Hospital in Abuja.

This was announced in a statement released in Abuja on Tuesday by Femi Babafemi, Director, Media & Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja.

The statement claims that on Friday, May 15, 2026, during a raid on a notorious drug joint in the Dawaki area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Ayegh Dooyun Zachariah and Shehu Jamil Ibrahim were severely injured by a violent mob attack.

On Monday, May 25, Marwa visited the injured officers at their bedsides and expressed the support of the entire NDLEA management.

He gave them the assurance that the agency would assume full responsibility for their well-being and make sure they received the best medical care possible until they were fully healed and back on their feet.

The agency will make every effort to capture and prosecute those responsible for this cowardly attack. “An attack on our officers is an attack on the state, and it will not go unpunished,” Marwa assured the officers, assuring them that justice would be done. She emphasized the importance of unity among the department and the community in overcoming such challenges. “Together, we will ensure that our streets remain safe and that those who threaten our peace are held accountable,” she added with determination. Her words resonated deeply with the officers, igniting a renewed sense of purpose within the ranks. The team knew that their strength lay in their commitment to one another and to the community they served, and they were ready to face whatever lay ahead.

He praised the two for their extraordinary bravery, unwavering dedication to duty, and exceptional professionalism throughout the dangerous Dawaki operation.

He emphasized how important their sacrifices are to the country in the continuous battle against drug trafficking and substance abuse.

The NDLEA boss’s visit was accompanied by the prompt implementation of incentives, such as the presentation of official Letters of Commendation personally signed by the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer and other support packages to aid in the officers’ quick recovery, in order to further inspire them and acknowledge their bravery.

He also praised the agency’s medical personnel and their counterparts at the National Hospital for their prompt action and suitable care, which have since stabilized the injured officers.

Marwa assured the public that the NDLEA is steadfast in its mission to dismantle drug cartels and clean up communities across the country, even in the face of violent opposition from criminal elements. He emphasized that the agency will continue to collaborate with local law enforcement and community organizations to strengthen their efforts. Marwa highlighted the importance of public support in achieving long-term success against drug trafficking and ensuring safer neighborhoods for everyone.
