The Ligue 1 giant Paris Saint Germain have stepped up their pursuit of Victor Osimhen, a striker for the Super Eagles. According to reports, the French champions are willing to negotiate the astounding €150 million asking price Galatasaray has set for the Nigerian forward.
Galatasaray has stated unequivocally that Osimhen will not leave Istanbul unless a club fully satisfies their valuation. The 27-year-old is under contract with the Turkish powerhouse until the summer of 2029, giving them the upper hand.
It is believed that PSG’s interest stems from tactical requirements under manager Luis Enrique, who is looking for a striker who is more direct and physical. The Ligue 1 team’s pursuit of a conventional number nine has been further fueled by uncertainty surrounding Portuguese forward Gonçalo Ramos’ long-term future at the club.
According to Spanish publication Diario AS, PSG sees Osimhen as the best option, and a number of other major European teams are also keeping an eye on the Nigerian. According to the outlet, “Osimhen’s performances have drawn attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Juventus all closely monitoring his situation.”
Mithat Halis, a FIFA-licensed agent, added his voice to the transfer discussion, specifically stating that Osimhen would be the ideal fit for Real Madrid because they haven’t had a solid center forward since Karim Benzema left.
Osimhen is an all-around striker. He is not just a penalty-box striker, nor does he fit the traditional number nine role. Halis told AS, “He is an all-around player who can play with his back to goal, deal with tight defenses, and operate as a second striker.”
He makes a defensive contribution as well. These characteristics all indicate the kind of player that Real Madrid needs. Since Karim Benzema, the team has not had a center forward. Both Mbappé and Vinicius will play in their natural positions as wingers and be more productive if they sign Osimhen.
Since joining the Istanbul team, Osimhen has been in exceptional form for Galatasaray, making 73 appearances with 57 goals and 16 assists. He is one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe thanks to his combination of speed, aerial strength, and relentless pressing.
Osimhen has frequently stated that he is happy in Istanbul and that Galatasaray feels like home, despite the ongoing rumors.
