Wike Disavows the PDP-APM Alliance Allegation

Reports of an alleged alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) were rejected by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike on Thursday, calling them “political 419.”
According to Sonogist, Wike had a conversation with reporters while inspecting ongoing road projects in Gomani-Yangoje, Kwali Area Council, Abuja. He emphasized that such rumors were merely attempts to distract the public and undermine the government’s efforts. Wike also reiterated his commitment to transparency and accountability in governance, urging citizens to focus on the development initiatives being implemented in the region.
In advance of the 2027 elections, the minister charged Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde with deceiving Nigerians by claiming a PDP-APM alliance.
They think I’m kidding when I say that people are dishonest. And that’s the 419 we’re discussing,” Wike remarked.
He insisted that there was no alliance arrangement known to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) or the PDP. Wike stressed the value of openness in political interactions and advised the public to be on the lookout for false information. He urged the party to unite in order to combat what he called opponents’ dishonest strategies.
The PDP does not have an alliance with the Allied Peoples Movement, or APM, or any other political party. Additionally, INEC is aware that the PDP-APM alliance does not exist,” he said.
Wike claimed that the PDP’s continuous operations, such as the screening of candidates, demonstrated the party’s continued independence.
Watch out for who is submitted to INEC and see if there is anything called PDP-APM. The PDP has presented a presidential candidate,” he continued.
In the meantime, the PDP’s National Working Committee, led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, has scheduled Thursday for the screening of its candidates for governor and president in advance of the general elections in 2027.
According to Naija News, Chinwe Nnorom, the party’s National Director of Publicity, made this revelation in an Abuja statement on behalf of Jungudo Mohammed, the National Publicity Secretary.
The statement states that candidates for governorship will be screened by noon at the PDP National Secretariat Annex, Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja, while candidates for president will appear before the screening committee at 2:00 pm. This strategic move aims to ensure that the party fields strong candidates who can effectively challenge their opponents. The screening process is expected to be rigorous, as the party seeks to build a solid foundation for a successful campaign. The party leadership emphasizes the importance of transparency and fairness in this process, aiming to instill confidence among party members and the electorate. As the screening day approaches, anticipation builds, with many hopefuls preparing to present their visions and qualifications. Candidates are urged to showcase not only their political acumen but also their commitment to the community’s needs. This crucial step in the nomination process will ultimately shape the party’s strategy and direction as they gear up for the upcoming elections. The outcome of this screening will not only determine the candidates who will represent the party but also set the tone for their campaign strategies. Engaging with voters and addressing pressing issues will be key as they seek to unite their supporters and attract new ones. As they navigate this complex landscape, party leaders must also consider the evolving concerns of constituents, ensuring that their platform resonates with a diverse electorate. By fostering genuine connections and demonstrating accountability, they can build trust and mobilize grassroots support essential for a successful campaign.
