sheikh Gumi Has Distance And Disassociate Himself From Reports Concerning Banditry, Bandits

Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has distanced himself from purported remarks and content that are making the rounds on the internet that associate him with encouraging banditry in Nigeria.

In a press release released in Kaduna on Saturday, Gumi called the reports “fake, manipulated, and doctored by individuals and groups pursuing ethnic and sectional interests.”

He claimed that some internet content producers who were looking for dramatic headlines and online traffic had purposefully misrepresented some of his remarks on insecurity, public lectures, and media appearances.

“I hereby declare unequivocally that any video clip, written statement, or message attributed to me, whether directly or indirectly, that suggests support, justification, protection, or advocacy for banditry in Nigeria or anywhere else does not emanate from me,” he declared.

Nigeria has unparalleled potential, according to the Islamic cleric, who reiterated his allegiance to the country.

He asked the general public, media outlets, and government officials to ignore any false information that might be circulating under his name.

Gumi also threatened to take legal action against anyone or any organization that continued to propagate lies about him after the statement was made.

The cleric expressed optimism that Nigeria would overcome its security issues and that the international community’s and Nigerians’ shared determination to put an end to insecurity would provide solace to victims of violence throughout the nation.

He called for long-term solutions to the crisis and blamed ignorance, poverty, and pervasive social injustice for the persistence of insecurity.
