Former Governor Commends Tinubu, Ribadu Over Foiled Kogi Abduction and Successful Oyo Rescue Operations

A former Nigerian governor has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for what he described as the improved coordination of Nigeria’s security agencies following the successful foiling of an abduction attempt in Kogi State and the rescue of victims in Oyo State.

Speaking during a public engagement, the former governor praised the efforts of security operatives involved in the recent operations, saying the outcomes demonstrated that the country’s security architecture is becoming more proactive in responding to criminal activities.

According to him, the successful prevention of the attempted abduction in Kogi and the rescue operation in Oyo reflect the importance of intelligence gathering, collaboration among security agencies and decisive leadership in tackling insecurity across the country.

He stated that while Nigeria continues to face security challenges, recent operations carried out by the military, police, intelligence agencies and other security personnel have shown that significant progress can be achieved when institutions work together effectively.

The former governor specifically acknowledged President Tinubu for providing political support to security agencies, while also applauding National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu for coordinating intelligence-driven operations aimed at combating kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes.

He noted that the security successes should encourage Nigerians to continue supporting lawful efforts to restore peace and stability across the country.

According to him, the fight against criminality requires sustained cooperation between government institutions, local communities and ordinary citizens who possess valuable information that can assist security agencies.

The former governor further urged residents to promptly report suspicious movements and activities within their communities, stressing that timely intelligence often plays a crucial role in preventing attacks before they occur.

He also encouraged security agencies not to relent in their operations, emphasising that criminal groups continue to adapt their tactics and therefore require continuous surveillance and strategic responses.

Speaking on the foiled kidnapping attempt in Kogi State, he described the operation as a clear example of the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and rapid intervention by security personnel.

He equally praised the rescue operation carried out in Oyo State, saying the safe recovery of victims demonstrated professionalism and courage on the part of the officers involved.

The former governor stressed that every successful rescue operation not only saves lives but also strengthens public confidence in Nigeria’s security institutions.

He acknowledged that many security personnel continue to put their lives at risk daily to protect citizens and safeguard communities across the country.
