Lagos Police Arrest 147 Suspects, Recover Weapons and Ammunition During Major Crackdown on Criminal Hideouts

The Lagos State Police Command has intensified its ongoing campaign against crime with the arrest of 147 suspected criminals during a series of coordinated raids carried out across several identified criminal hideouts in different parts of the state.

The large-scale operation, conducted by tactical teams of the command, also led to the recovery of dangerous weapons, live cartridges and other items believed to have been used in criminal activities.

According to police authorities, the operation forms part of a broader strategy aimed at dismantling criminal networks, improving public safety and ensuring residents continue to enjoy a peaceful environment across Nigeria’s commercial capital.

Police officers reportedly stormed multiple locations following credible intelligence linking the hideouts to various criminal activities, including armed robbery, cultism, illegal possession of firearms, violent attacks and other offences.

The coordinated raids were carried out simultaneously in order to prevent suspects from escaping or warning one another before security operatives arrived.

During the operation, officers recovered several locally made firearms, cutlasses, axes, knives and a significant quantity of live cartridges. Investigators believe some of the recovered weapons may have been used in previous criminal operations across different communities within Lagos.

Police authorities stated that all 147 suspects are currently undergoing screening and interrogation.

Investigators are working to separate those directly linked to criminal activities from individuals who may have been arrested during the operation but found not to have committed any offence.

The command assured the public that investigations would be conducted professionally and that anyone found innocent after proper screening would be released in accordance with the law.

Those found to have committed criminal offences, however, will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
