16-Year-Old Girl Alleges Sexual Assault by Two Teenagers at Delta Hotel

A 16-year-old girl in Delta State has narrated how she was allegedly lured to a hotel in the Ughelli area, where she says she was sexually assaulted by two teenage boys.

The teenager said she was taken to the hotel after a friend invited her, telling her that someone would provide money for her transportation.

According to her account, she arrived at the hotel and met two boys identified as Godstime and Goodluck, while the friend who had invited her reportedly left the premises.

The girl alleged that the situation changed after she informed the boys that she was menstruating.

She said an argument followed and that one of the boys allegedly slapped her before ordering her to remove her clothes.

The teenager further alleged that the two boys subsequently sexually assaulted her and recorded part of the incident with their mobile phones.

She said she pleaded with them to delete the recording, but alleged that the boys demanded further sexual activity before agreeing to remove the footage.

The girl also alleged that the assault occurred more than once before she eventually managed to escape from the hotel while the suspects were asleep.

The incident came to wider public attention after a video connected to the alleged assault circulated on social media.

The footage reportedly showed the suspects making comments about the teenager’s menstrual period, further intensifying public concern over the incident.

Following the circulation of the video, the Delta State Police Command began investigating the matter.

One of the suspects, identified as Godstime, was subsequently arrested.

After his arrest, the suspect reportedly acknowledged that he and Goodluck had engaged in sexual activity with the girl and admitted that the incident had been recorded.

He also acknowledged that he had been communicating with the teenager through WhatsApp before she visited the hotel.

However, his account differed from that of the girl regarding the circumstances and number of times the sexual activity occurred.

The suspect reportedly claimed that he and Goodluck had sex with the teenager twice, while disputing the girl’s account of repeated assaults.

The conflicting accounts are now part of the investigation as authorities seek to establish what happened at the hotel and determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The police have indicated that the arrested suspect will face prosecution in accordance with the law.

The case has also renewed attention on the dangers faced by minors who may be lured into unfamiliar environments through promises of money, transportation or other forms of assistance.

Child protection advocates have repeatedly stressed the importance of ensuring that minors have safe channels for reporting abuse and that allegations involving children are handled with sensitivity.

The incident also highlights the potential danger posed by the recording and circulation of sexual material involving minors.

Beyond the alleged assault itself, the circulation of such footage can expose victims to additional emotional distress, humiliation and online harassment.

Sharing or reposting sexual material involving a minor can also create further legal and safeguarding concerns, regardless of how the original recording was obtained.

For this reason, members of the public have been urged to avoid circulating the video or attempting to identify and expose the teenager online.

The focus should instead remain on protecting the alleged victim, preserving relevant evidence and allowing investigators to establish the facts.

The case also raises questions about the role of the person who allegedly invited the girl to the hotel.

According to the teenager’s account, she was invited by a friend who told her that someone would assist her with transportation. She said she later arrived at the hotel and was left with the two boys.

Investigators may therefore seek to establish the circumstances surrounding the invitation, whether the person who made it knew what was going to happen and whether anyone else was involved.

At this stage, the available information does not establish that the friend who allegedly invited the teenager knew that she would be assaulted.

That aspect would have to be determined through further investigation.

The circumstances surrounding the hotel visit are also expected to form part of the police inquiry, including how the teenagers came to be at the location, what happened before the alleged assault and whether additional evidence can be recovered from the premises or the suspects’ devices.

Digital evidence could be particularly important because the teenager alleged that the incident was recorded on mobile phones.

Investigators may examine the devices involved to determine whether recordings were made, whether they were deleted or shared and whether other people received copies.

Such evidence could help establish the sequence of events and identify anyone else who may have participated in the distribution of the material.

The case also underscores the importance of responsible use of social media when dealing with allegations involving children.

While public attention can sometimes help bring suspected abuse to the notice of authorities, uncontrolled sharing of sensitive material can cause further harm to victims.

The identity and privacy of a minor involved in an alleged sexual offence should be protected.

People who come across such material are better advised to report it to the relevant authorities or platform rather than downloading, reposting or distributing it.

For the teenager involved, the priority remains access to appropriate medical, psychological and legal support while the investigation continues.

Cases of alleged sexual violence can have lasting consequences for victims, particularly when the alleged incident is recorded and circulated publicly.

The teenager’s account will need to be assessed alongside other evidence, including the suspect’s statement, digital evidence, possible witness accounts and any findings from the investigation.

An allegation of sexual assault remains an allegation until established through due process.

At the same time, the seriousness of the claim and the fact that the alleged victim is 16 make the matter one requiring careful investigation and appropriate protection.

The arrest of Godstime represents an early step in the investigation, while authorities are expected to establish the whereabouts and possible involvement of the second teenager identified as Goodluck.

The police will also need to determine whether any other individuals were involved before, during or after the alleged incident.

As the investigation progresses, authorities are expected to provide further information where appropriate while protecting the identity and welfare of the teenager.

The incident has generated concern in Delta State and beyond, particularly because of the alleged involvement of teenagers and the reported recording of the incident.

It also serves as a reminder of the need for parents, guardians and communities to remain alert to situations in which minors may be invited to unfamiliar locations by people they know.

For now, the teenager’s allegations, the suspect’s response and the police investigation remain the key elements of the case.

The authorities have assured that the matter will be handled according to the law, while the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and the role of each person involved will be determined through the ongoing investigation.
