Biafra Day Sit-at-home, MASSOB Hails Compliance For Obedience

Residents of the South-East and other parts of the former Eastern Region were praised by the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) for taking part in Saturday’s sit-at-home celebration commemorating the 59th anniversary of Biafra’s declaration.

The degree of compliance, according to the group, is a reflection of the people’s dedication to honoring those who perished in the Nigerian Civil War and the circumstances surrounding the Biafran struggle.

Comrade Uchenna Madu, the leader of MASSOB, thanked locals in a statement released on Saturday for commemorating the anniversary of the late General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu’s declaration of Biafra on May 30, 1967.

He claimed that the observance showed respect for the civil war’s past and the sacrifices made by those impacted by it.

“We sincerely thank the people of Biafra for their dedication to commemorating the anniversary of the declaration of Biafra and the memory of General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu,” Madu stated.

He claimed that the degree of participation in the sit-at-home exercise demonstrated how much significance many locals place on remembering the time.

Madu emphasized that MASSOB would continue its advocacy in accordance with its declared principles and reiterated the organization’s dedication to achieving its goals through nonviolent means.

“As we continue to work toward a better future for all Biafrans through MASSOB’s principles of non-violence in self-determination activism, we salute your resolve and dedication,” he declared.

The leader of MASSOB also urged churches in the Southeast to host special prayers and memorial services for those who lost their lives in the Civil War.

He claims that these programs would offer chances for introspection and remembrance of the conflict’s victims.

Pro-Biafra organizations observe May 30 every year as a day of remembrance for those who died during the 1967–1970 Nigerian Civil War.
