Navy Intercepts Vessel Carrying N660 Million Worth of Stolen Crude Oil, Arrests 12 Suspects

The Nigerian Navy has intercepted a vessel allegedly transporting stolen crude oil valued at approximately N660 million, arresting 12 suspects during a major anti-crude theft operation aimed at curbing illegal activities in the country’s oil-producing region.

The successful operation, carried out by naval personnel as part of ongoing efforts to combat crude oil theft and maritime crime, resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of suspected illegally refined crude oil as well as the vessel used for its transportation.

According to the Navy, the operation followed credible intelligence received by security operatives regarding suspicious movements of a vessel believed to be involved in the illegal transportation of petroleum products.

Naval officers were subsequently deployed to intercept the vessel before it could reach its intended destination.

Upon boarding and inspecting the vessel, security personnel reportedly discovered a substantial quantity of crude oil suspected to have been illegally obtained from Nigeria’s oil facilities.

Authorities estimated the value of the recovered cargo at about N660 million, describing it as one of the significant interceptions recorded in recent anti-oil theft operations.
